Previously... Daniel Solsona Puig (Cornellà de Llobregat, Barcelona, 1952) spent a sizeable chunk of his career with RCD Espanyol, where he was nicknamed 'El Noi de Cornellá' (The Cornellá Boy). He made his debut with the Catalan side in a Copa del Rey match against FC Barcelona in 1970. He remained with Espanyol until the 1977/78 season, before moving to Valencia CF, where he stayed until 1983.

His achievements... He won the Copa del Rey (1979), the UEFA Cup Winners' Cup (1980) and the UEFA Super Cup (1981) during his first three years with Los Che. Additionally, he is the twelfth most capped player in Espanyol's history, having played 234 Liga BBVA games.

After hanging up his boots... He retired in 1990 while at UE Sant Andreu. Following that, he began working with the Espanyol youth academy teams. In turn he became involved with the Catalan's veteran team, where he currently occupies the role of vice-president along with other former players.

Did you know?... During the season he signed for Valencia, Barcelona were also interested in acquiring his services, but the azulgranas wanted him to undergo a trial first. Solsona rejected their offer and signed for Los Che, a team he would go on to beat Barcelona 3-0 with five years later. Solsona, who was the man of the match, scored twice in that game against the team that wanted to put him to the test.
