After picking up just one win in their last five games, Sevilla picked up a vital victory after winning 4-3 at RC Deportivo. The Galicians opened the scoring thanks to Oriol Riera, but Vitolo Machin carried the visitors on his shoulders and turned the game around.

The game was played at a fast pace from the off, and the first chance fell to the visitors, although Carlos Bacca could not keep his shot under the bar. Deportivo responded through Lucas Pérez, who had two chances to give the hosts the lead but failed to hit the target. However, the hosts’pressure soon paid off. Sidnei won the ball back in the centre-circle and started a quick counter attack which Oriel Riera finished off to score his first goal with Depor.

But Sevilla drew level through Vitolo. The Canary Islander then found the net again in the second half after a quick transition down the right hand side. Three minutes later, Víctor Fernández’s side started to show signs of recovery. A shot from Lucas Pérez just missed Sergio Rico’s post and then the goalkeeper denied the striker an equaliser with a smart save. But the visits got another goal in the 65th minute when Kevin Gameiro scored a penalty after Pablo Insua brought down Vitolo.

Despite being two goals down, Deportivo kept on fighting and in the 72nd minute Oriol Riera managed to score again to make it 3-2. Both sides kept creating chances and Fabricio managed to save from Diogo Figueiras but could do nothing to prevent Sidnei turning a cross from Vitolo into his own net. In added time Lucas Pérez made it 3-4 from the penalty spot.
