Rayo Vallecano and Villarreal CF will face each other this Sunday in one of the fixtures of matchday 23 of the Liga BBVA. The Madrid side who have lost their last three matches in the league go into the game aiming to end their poor run in order to stay out of trouble in the table. They face a Villarreal side who will be hoping to get back to winning ways and tighten their grip on the European spots following their defeat to FC Barcelona in the first round of the Copa del Rey semi-finals.

Squads
Rayo Vallecano will be without Raúl Baena, due to a ban, and Javier Aquino, due to a contract issue. Miku Fedor, the Madrid brand-new signing for the Madrid side, has been left out of the squad by the coach and will have to wait a little longer to make his debut. Villarreal travel to Madrid without Bruno Soriano, Ikechuwku Uche, Adrián Marín, Jonathan dos Santos and Bojan Jokić due to injuries.

Thoughts of the coaches
Rayo's coach, Paco Jémez, had words of praise for his next opponents: "They are a great side, especially with speed up front. They don't just attack, they have a lot of appeal. They are one of the best sides in the league in my opinion".

His opposite number, on the Villarreal bench, Marcelino García Toral, also highlighted the qualities of his opponent: "Rayo is a tremendously dynamic team, very demanding, they play attractive football. The key is to defend well and then to play with good judgment and look for goals".
