Villarreal the bosses at the Nuevo Arcángel

Villarreal CF downed Córdoba 0-2 in the 13th matchday of Liga BBVA. Goals from Luciano Vietto and Ikechukwu Uche saw Marcelino’s men record their second win on the spin and move up to sixth. The home side are yet to win and continue at the bottom of the table.

After an even start, it was Villarreal who looked the more dangerous. Denis Cheryshev saw an effort saved by Juan Carlos Martín, however Luciano Vietto was able to put his side ahead in minute 24' with a snap-shot on the turn. This brought the Andalusian side to life as they sought to draw level, however Villarreal never really looked like conceding before the break.

After the restart, Villarreal came out looking for a second goal to seal the game, and they almost got it through Gerard Moreno and Jonathon dos Santos, however it was to be substitute Uche who would double his side’s lead from a corner. After this second goal, the visitors were able to see the game out and take the three points.
