Villarreal CF and Sevilla FC will cross paths for a third time in the space of a few weeks for matchday 28 of the Liga BBVA. The La Plana outfit will be looking to focus fully on the domestic league and will therefore be eager for revenge against Unai Emery’s team. In fact, a win would put the Yellow Submarine ahead of the Andalusians in the table. Sevilla, meanwhile, will not want to relax despite their good results of late, as they have a great opportunity to put a run of four undefeated games together and thereby make up ground on fourth place in the division, a spot currently occupied by Atlético Madrid.
Team news
Marcelino García will be without Jaume Costa, who is still suspended following the red card he picked up last weekend. Also unavailable for the home team are the injured Bruno Soriano, Adrián Marín and Denis Cheryshev. Meanwhile, Unai Emery will have to make do without the services of Polish midfielder Grzegorz Krychowiack, while Ever Banega makes his way back into the squad, having had been injured during the week. On the other hand, Kevin Gameiro and Gerard Deulofeu have been left out because of a technical decision.
Views from the dugouts
Despite his team recently beating the Yellows, Unai Emery stated that Villarreal are having "a great season" in the Liga BBVA. In order to come away with the three points, Emery stressed the importance of "being strong, being very competitive, understanding how they play in order to stop them in their tracks and wanting to win. It is going to be tough but we are ready for it". Meanwhile, Marcelino highlighted the amount of injuries plaguing his squad as well as "the accumulated exhaustion", but affirmed that his side "is eager to win".
