Villarreal continue to shine with Vietto leading the charge

The match between Villarreal CF and Levante UD, corresponding to matchday 20 of the Liga BBVA, ended with a 1-0 victory for the Castellón side thanks to a goal from Luciano Vietto.

The first half went as was to be expected, Villarreal dominated play and Levante sat back and waited for chances to counter-attack. There were few shots from either side, and the few chances that were had, were dealt with easily by both Sergio Asenjo and DiegoMariño.

As the second half got underway, both teams notched up the intensity level in an attempt to break the deadlock. After various attempts from Mario Gaspar and David Barral, it was finally Luciano Vietto who opened the scoring. He did so after a long distance shot from Manu Trigueros and a poor clearance from Mariño, taking advantage to put away the ball and get the fans jumping in the Madrigal. Although Levante tried up until the very end, Marcelino García-Toral’s team went home with the three points.
