Thrills, spills and plenty of goals in El Madrigal

Villarreal CF filled their boots as they beat R. Sociedad 4-0 on matchday 14 of the Liga BBVA. Four goals in the second left the Basque side with no chance of a comeback and they are now just three points above the relegation zone.

It was a well-balanced first half in which the Txuri-Urdin took the initiative in the first thirty minutes of play, but the home team got back into it and eventually created the most danger before the break. The clearest chances fell to Luciano Vietto, Bruno and Uche but they were all unable to break the deadlock in the first 45 minutes.

The Yellows did not give their opponents a look-in after the break. Vietto hit the post twice and they scored four times to put the match to bed and deliver a hammer blow to David Moyes' men. First, a free-kick from Bruno, which went in off goalkeeper Eñaut Zubikarai's back, and later a great left-foot shot from Cheryshev found the back of the Basque keeper's net. Finally, Moi Gómez scored a brace to seal a 4-0 win.
