It is the middle of July, which means LALIGA EA SPORTS clubs are busy preparing for the new season. There have been several transfers and contract renewals in the past week, the most eye-catching of which are discussed below.
Santi Cazorla will play for Real Oviedo in LALIGA EA SPORTS
It was confirmed this past week that Sanzi Cazorla is extending his Real Oviedo contract by one further season. As such, the 40-year-old midfielder will fulfil his dream of playing for the Asturian club in Spain’s top division. Curiously, he’ll face former club Villarreal CF in Matchday 1 of the 2025/26 LALIGA EA SPORTS campaign.
Julen Agirrezabala is Valencia CF’s newest goalkeeper
Valencia CF have a new goalkeeper, having completed the loan signing of Julen Agirrezabala from Athletic Club. The shot-stopper boasts plenty of experience, having made 65 appearances for the Basque side, including during their run to the 2023/24 Copa del Rey title. Now, he’ll look to fill the gloves of the departing Giorgi Mamardashvili at Mestalla.
Víctor Muñoz begins a new chapter by signing with CA Osasuna
Another player to complete a move between Spanish clubs this past week was Víctor Muñoz, the 22-year-old winger who has left Real Madrid to join CA Osasuna. The La Fábrica academy graduate has impressed for Castilla over the past few seasons, while he also made four appearances for the senior team, and now he’s ready to show what he can do for Los Rojillos.
Sevilla FC bring in Chile international Gabriel Suazo
A new era is beginning at Sevilla FC and the Andalusian club have completed an impressive signing, bringing in left-back Gabriel Suazo. The Chilean has represented his country 33 times and most recently played with Toulouse in France.
Levante UD build out their squad for LALIGA EA SPORTS
Following their promotion into LALIGA EA SPORTS, Levante UD are building out their squad and have completed five signings already, several of them arriving this past week. Los Granotes have acquired midfielder Kervin Arriaga, right-backs Jeremy Toljan and Víctor García, and centre-backs Alan Matturro and Matías Moreno.
Wojciech Szczęsny signs a new contract at FC Barcelona
After coming in as an emergency signing for FC Barcelona during last season, and helping Barça to win the LALIGA EA SPORTS title, Copa del Rey and Spanish Super Cup trophies, Wojciech Szczęsny has been rewarded with a contract extension until 2027.
Óscar Trejo is staying at Rayo Vallecano
Rayo Vallecano will be able to count on Óscar Trejo for yet another season, with the 37-year-old having renewed his contract with the club until the end of the 2025/26 campaign, a season in which Los Franjirrojos will play in Europe.
Ángel Correa bids farewell to Atlético de Madrid
It was an emotional week at Atlético de Madrid, as the club bid farewell to Ángel Correa after 10 seasons. The Argentinian is moving to Mexican side Tigres UANL, departing Atleti as the sixth-highest appearance-maker in club history and as one of the heroes of the 2020/21 LALIGA EA SPORTS title, when he scored away at Real Valladolid on the final day.
Lamine Yamal turns 18 years of age
FC Barcelona superstar Lamine Yamal celebrated his 18th birthday on Sunday, coming of age having already made 106 appearances for Los Azulgranas as well as 21 for the Spanish national team, scoring 25 goals for his club and six for his country.
The kick-off times for Matchday 2 are confirmed
More exact kick-off times have been confirmed this past week, setting up an intriguing Matchday 2 of the LALIGA EA SPORTS season in which last term’s top three will each take on a newly promoted side. Atlético de Madrid will host Elche CF and FC Barcelona will visit Levante UD on Saturday August 23rd, before Real Madrid visit Real Oviedo on Sunday August 24th.
