It was a goalless draw in the match between Granada CF and Athletic Club, a game corresponding to matchday 23 of the Liga BBVA. The two sides once again take points after both had lost their last league game and go up one place in the table: the Andalusian side is second last with 19 points and the Athletic are in 12th place on 24 points.
Ernesto Valverde's men had their first chance nine minutes into the game. The visitors earned a corner that the home keeper, Oier Olazábal did not manage to catch. However, no Athletic players were able to connect with the ball, and in the end, the Granada defence cleared. In the 19th minute, Mikel Rico could have opened with the scoring with a great header but he was not accurate enough in front of goal. The home side's clearest chance was had by Jean-Sylvain Babin following a great pass by Francisco Medina 'Piti' into the heart of the area. The French defender troubled Gorka Iraizoz who prevented the first goal of the game with a great stretching save.
The first dangerous move did not come until the 63rd minute; both Piti and Daniel Candeias had shots that were stopped by Iraizoz. In the 67th minute, the Andalusian side went down to 10 men when Emanuel Insúa was sent off. Despite having fewer players, Abel Resino's men continue to attack and Piti hit the post. With the following move, Iker Muniain attempted a long-distance shot. In the 90' minute, Jhon Córdoba, who came on in the second half, was left with a one-on-one with the goalkeeper but his shot went over. The game ended with the same score line as at the start, and with the home side looking for a winning goal.
