Levante UD have continued their unbeaten run with a home victory over one of the top teams of the season. Valencia CF could not cope with the Granotas’ response to their game and lost 2-1 on matchday 12 of the Liga BBVA.
Álvaro Negredo’s first start this season breathed new life into a team that showed more mischief in attack than Levante. The forward from Madrid was the cornerstone of his side at the Ciutat de València, making his mark out wide, assisting and threatening the goal defended by Diego Mariño, who was fortunate to keep the visitors out.
In the second half, Levante stuck to their guns and continued to defend hard in a game that took a turn for the better for them several minutes later. A corner headed by Víctor Casadesús found the net and gave Lucas Alcaraz’s team their first goal. The supporters then saw how each team’s supersub brought the game to life. First it was Dani Parejo who scored the equaliser from a Negredo back pass, then on came José Luis Morales who with a splendid individual effort made it 2-1.
