Sevilla FC beat Córdoba CF 3-0 in an Andalusian derby in matchday 23 in the Liga BBVA, with goals from Grzegorz Krychowiak, Carlos Bacca and Vicente Iborra helping compensate for their recent defeats to Real Madrid CF and Getafe CF, allowing them to temporarily reclaim fourth spot.
Unai Emery’s side began the game with enormous intensity, breaking into the visitor’s area frequently in the opening minutes. José Antonio Reyes had the first opportunity to score in the game, but was denied by Córdoba goalkeeper Juan Carlos Martín after just five minutes. The hosts’ dominance paid off towards the end of the first half, with Krychowiak opening the scoring with a header, and then Bacca adding another a minute before the break.
Substitute Patrick Ekeng was sent off early in the second half, making things even harder for the visitors, although their numerical inferiority was restored when Krychowiak was also given an early bath.
But Sevilla got a third goal soon after, as Iborra headed home a cross from Éver Banega to make it 3-0.
