Elche CF and Levante UD will go head to head on Sunday in the 19th round of Liga BBVA fixtures. Both sides are in the drop zone, and that means that the game at the Estadio Martínez Valero will be key to both teams’ hopes of staying up.

Elche will be without the injured Pedro Mosquera, suspended David Lombán and Garry Rodrigues, who is away at the African Cup of Nations with Cape Verde. For the visitors, Nikos Karabelas and David Barral miss out due to the accumulation of yellow cards.

Elche boss Fran Escribá highlighted how important the game was for his side: "Levante are a good side, with a lot of experience and it will be very difficult; we are direct rivals and for that we must get a win”. His counterpart at Levante, Lucas Alcaraz, assured that his side go into the game “looking to win” and said he had hope about his side’s predicament: “The squad and the backroom staff are prepared for the challenge, it won’t be easy, but we are convinced we can do it”.
