RC Celta got back to winning ways on matchday 21 of the Liga BBVA after overcoming Córdoba CF 1-0 in a clash that saw the hosts enjoy the better of the chances. Nolito hit the decisive goal on 56 minutes.
The teams served up an excellent first half. Both sides enjoyed several opportunities to open the scoring, but goalkeepers Sergio and Juan Carlos were to the fore between the sticks. The Celta keeper showed his reflexes from a shot by Deivid in the first minute, before the Galicians then got in on the act in attack, with Joaquín Larrivey, Santi Mina and Nolito very close to breaking the deadlock, only to be denied by Juan Carlos.
The persistence of Eduardo Berizzo's men reaped its rewards in the second period, as Nolito popped up to do the honours at Balaídos with a nicely executed goal. A sublime drive by the Andalusian from the edge of the area found the net and curbed Celta's streak of 10 games without a win, to leave them in 10th place.
