In one of the games being played on matchday nineteen of the BBVA Liga, FC Barcelona won 0-4 against RC Deportivo. The victory was thanks to a dazzling performance from Lionel Messi, the man of the match with a hat-trick, and it means that Barcelona tighten their grip on second place with 44 points, the team from Corunna remain in 16th place on 17 points.
Luis Enrique Martínez’ squad played with intensity from the outset, troubling Deportivo’s defence on several occasions. Then, following a great save by Fabricio against a Messi shot, the Argentinian did not make any mistakes with his second approach and opened the scoring in the tenth minute with a fantastic header. Following several minutes of dominance and versatility, Messi once again beat the home goalkeeper with a subtle chip in the 33rd minute, adding the finishing touch to a great first half from the Catalan side. A shot inside the area by Isaac Cuenca that went over the bar, was Deportivo’s most clear-cut chance in the first half.
The pattern of the game did not chance following the half-time break, as Barcelona continued to play with high intensity and Messi’s hunger for goals did not abate. And so, the Barcelona ‘10’ sealed a great night for himself by putting the visitors 0-3 with a powerful crossed shot. In the final stretch of the game, an own goal from Sidnei Da Silva added further shine to the score for Barcelona with the game ending at 0-4.
