Levante UD and Málaga CF meet on Saturday for matchday 22 of the Liga BBVA. Javi Garcia's side travel to the Ciudad de Valencia with the aim of continuing their efforts of securing one of the European spots. The home team will be looking to move away from bottom of the table by putting an end to a run of seven straight games without a win.
Team news
Lucas Alcaraz is likely to be without Pape Diop, who has a virus, while Kalu Uche and Iván Ramis look like possibilities for this weekend's game. For his part, Javi Garcia will have problems at the back due to the absences of Roberto Chen and Flavio Ferreira, who is out indefinitely, and Sergi Darder, who is suspended due to an accumulation of bookings. All signs point to Recio starting instead of the suspended midfielder. On top of that, Javi Guerra and Camacho have questions marks hanging over them due to injury.
The views from the dugouts
Lucas Alcaraz spoke about the possibility of Levante being relegated this season: "Getting three points against Málaga on Saturday will help us in our bid for safety". The Valencian outfit’s boss stated that his players have to "be fearless" heading into this game but would not confirm if Costa Rican Bryan Ruiz will feature.
Málaga's left back, Arthur Boka, spoke to the press and looked ahead to Saturday's clash: "We have to have a positive attitude in order to stay on track for a place in Europe. We don’t want to take our foot of the gas and are continuing to work hard".
