Málaga CF and RCD Espanyol meet in one of Saturday’s most eye-catching fixtures in the Liga BBVA. Neither wants to lose sight of the European places and, with victory proving elusive for both teams on recent matchdays, they need to get back to winning ways to make that happen. Málaga, who have 35 points, are closest to sixth place, which is currently occupied by Villarreal (41).
Team news
Málaga see two men come into Javi Gracia’s squad for the clash, following the inclusion of left-back Duda and midfielder Sergi Darder. For Espanyol, the chief news ahead of the encounter is that Abraham has been brought in, while fellow midfield man José Cañas remains on the sidelines.
Views from the dugout
Málaga coach Gracia is in no doubt about his side’s opponents: "We’re going to come up against one of the teams in the best nick in the division." He also stressed once again that the objective is to ensure survival and that there are still points to be won to achieve that. Meanwhile, Espanyol boss Sergio González revealed that his team "deserve" a victory away from home in view of the level of their recent performances.
