The changes made by SD Eibar coach Gaizka Garitano to alter their run of recent weeks did not have the necessary effect as Levante UD picked up the three points with another turnaround in the space of two minutes. The 2-1 defeat on matchday 26 of the Liga BBVA further heightens the visitors’ desperation to get back to winning ways.

The first half was a period whose complexion changed as the minutes passed. Although it was Levante who began the affair by taking the initiative, their dominance proved unproductive and Eibar, who had offered a more passive display in the opening exchanges, improved as they pushed up their defensive line and played more incisively in attack. However, neither side was able to find a way to create clear chances to break the deadlock.

After half time, the goal Eibar had eagerly been looking for arrived. Los granotas surrendered ground to their opponents and saw Saúl Berjón put the Basques ahead with an effort on the half-turn. The hosts’ response came in the form of comeback that took just two minutes, as first David Barral then Kalu Uche turned the game on its head. Eibar could not find an equaliser to halt their state of free-fall, while Levante come away with the satisfaction of a third straight home win in the Liga BBVA.
