Matchday 20 of the Liga BBVA throws up a thrilling clash between RCD Espanyol and UD Almería, two sides experiencing vastly different fortunes this season. The Catalans will be hoping to continue their progress by replicating their great Copa del Rey form in La Liga, while the Andalusians, who find themselves in the relegation zone, will be looking to move up the table as soon as possible.

Team news

Espanyol's right back Anaitz Arbilla will sit this match out because of an accumulation of yellow cards. Juan Ignacio Martínez has more selection issues to worry about, with Jonathan Zongo and Thievy playing in the African Cup of Nations and Rubén Martínez and Quique González both out with injuries.

Views from the dugouts

Sergio González, who has put the best Espanyol side of the last few years together, pleaded to the fans: "I want there to be a great atmosphere in the stadium. The league is the most important competition and we want to climb further up the table". His counterpart in the Almería technical area considers this to be a crucial game in order to move away from the bottom. "The squad and the club are aware that we don’t have much margin for error, and whatever margin there we have is little", he stated.
