Málaga CF have been in euphoric mood after winning 1-0 at FC Barcelona last week and they take on a Getafe CF in a transition process after the resignation of Quique Sánchez Flores. Both teams will be looking for victory so they can keep scaling the league table.

Team news

The Andalusian side go into the game with a depleted squad, with Javi Guerra, Ezequiel Rescaldani, Sergio Sánchez, Juanpi and Filipenko all unavailable. The most notable new face in the Getafe squad will be in the dugout, with Pablo Franco, the club’s reserve team coach, taking charge of the team for this vital match. He will have to make do without Ángel Lafita, Roberto Lago, Babá and Sammir, the latter who has left the club to move to China, while Mehdi Lacen is suspended.

View from the dugouts

Málaga coach Javi Gracia says his team are highly motivated as a result of their positive run of form: “We are getting better in every game and we are in good spirits,” he said. Interim coach Pablo Franco meanwhile has insisted the team are united despite the departure of Sánchez Flores, and he believes they are capable of getting a result at La Rosaleda. “They will be very motivated to get more points and we are convinced that we can win.”
