RCD Espanyol and RC Deportivo will lock horns in one of the fixtures on matchday 9 of the Liga BBVA. The Catalan side, though losing their most recent game against Atlético Madrid, were unbeaten in their four previous fixtures. They face an opposition who finally tasted victory in the 2014-15 season after ending their poor run against Valencia CF with a 3-0 win last week.
Team news
In Sergio González's ranks, Abraham González and Héctor Moreno will be absent, though the Mexican has returned from injury and has been able to train with the group. The Blanquiazules captain, Sergio García, is also out with a hamstring injury. For the visitors, Diogo Salomão is still unavailable, but forward Hélder Postiga has recovered from his injury and joins Víctor Fernández's matchday 20.
Views from the dugout
It will be an emotional game for the local manager, now with the Catalan club, having spent nine seasons with Sunday's opposition. "Just thinking about Deportivo puts a smile on my face". For the visiting side, Juanfran gave a positive assessment of his team. "We're keen to get out there; it'll be a good test for us. We want to prove that Valencia wasn’t a one-off".
