Espanyol fail to finish Deportivo off

RCD Espanyol and RC Deportivo produced a goalless draw in the Power8 Stadium. Sergio González's men dictated the match and failed to capitalise on the chances they had.

Espanyol started the game with great intensity and created plenty of danger in Fabricio Agosto's area. The Blanquiazules had their opponents under siege, allowing Diego Colotto to attempt an overhead kick that was just wide of its mark. On the verge of half time, Lucas Vázquez had an opportunity to give his team the lead but failed to convert.

After the restart, the home side continued to dominate. One of the best chances in the second half fell to Christian Stuani, who failed to make the most of a dangerous back-pass from Fabiano that could have made it 1-0.

In the end, the spoils were shared; Deportivo managed to hold off the assault from the home side and their point gives them a total of eight in the Liga BBVA, while Espanyol have ten.
