Equality reigns in the Ciutat de València

Levante UD and RC Deportivo opened Liga BBVA matchday 18 with a 0-0 draw. It was a very close match from the start and both teams had early chances to find the net.

The first half could have gone either way. It started with a header from Ivan Cavaleiro after a corner that was just wide of its mark. For Deportivo, the liveliest player was Ivan Cavaleiro, whose efforts were seen off by Diego Mariño.

After the restart, Víctor Fernández also came close to finding the net, but Mariño was on hand once more. Barral had another opportunity with a header that he sent over the bar. There were many more chances in the second half than in the first 45 minutes; Levante, through Morales, and Isaac Cuenca both failed to capitalise on their counters. The match ended as it started; 0-0, a result that helps neither side move away from the most perilous part of the table, the relegation zone.
