Elche look to rally against a solid Atlético

Elche CF and Atlético Madrid will open Liga BBVA matchday fourteen in the Martínez Valero with very different objectives. The side from Alicante will be trying to get three more points at home to add to those they took from RCD Espanyol. Atlético, for their part, do not want to lose touch with Real Madrid CF and FC Barcelona, for which they will need to produce their fourth win on the road.

For Elche, Manu Herrera and Aaron Ñíguez will not be in the squad as they are both injured. Rodrigues will not be available either for accumulated yellows, while David Lombán will be a doubt until the last minute because of a stomach bug. In the case of the Rojiblancos, Diego Simeone will be missing João Miranda and Cristian Ansaldi, two key members of his defence.

The home manager, Fran Escribá, thinks his team are ready to face Atlético. "We're ready to compete and play a good game". The visiting coach, Simeone, spoke of his expectations of the clash: "I imagine it will be a tough and difficult match, we'll have to play with a lot of intensity".
