Deportivo upset Valencia

RC Deportivo defeated Valencia CF 3-0. From the outset, the home side looked comfortable on the field of play.

The Galicians started with great intensity and were very solid in defence. Several turnovers in midfield became dangerous chances on the Valencian goal. Deportivo's onslaught bore fruit in the 36th minute when, from a corner, José Luis Gayà scored an own goal to make it 1-0. Five minutes later, Lucas Pérez made it 2-0 on his Liga BBVA debut.

At the start of the second half, Nuno made two changes to try to turn the score around. Valencia had more chances, but had no success in front of goal. With ten minutes to go, José 'Toché' Verdú put the icing on the cake with the goal that sealed the home team’s 3-0 victory. With this win, Deportivo now have seven points, while Valencia remain on 17.
