RC Deportivo and Sevilla FC meet this Saturday at the Estadio de Riazor in one of the most interesting clashes on matchday 26 of the Liga BBVA.
The hosts go into the encounter looking to move away from the relegation places, as they currently sit just three points above the drop. Meanwhile, Sevilla will be out to stay in the fight for qualification for next season’s UEFA Champions League. Both sides are experiencing negative runs: Deportivo haven’t won in three, while los hispalenses have claimed victory in one of their last five league fixtures.
Team news
Víctor Fernández faces a number of absences in attack, with Toché, Hélder Postiga and Diego Salomão all out. However, Iván Cavaleiro is now available. For Sevilla, coach Unai Emery will be able to call on Nico Pareja and Iago Aspas, who both recovered from injuries this week, but will be without Daniel Carriço and Benoît Trémoulinas due to fitness issues.
Views from the dugout
Blanquiazules boss Fernández said the following in his pre-match press conference: "I really have confidence and believe in my team. We have to compete and offer no let-up." His counterpart, Emery, was optimistic of reaching 49 points and stated that his side have the opportunity to "win back credit" in the game against the Galicians.
