Atlético Madrid travel to Barcelona for matchday 27 of the Liga BBVA to battle it out with RCD Espanyol for three valuable points. The Catalan team lie comfortably in tenth, but cannot afford to relax just yet and will therefore be looking to add to their points tally against their opponents from the Spanish capital. Meanwhile, the rojiblancos need a win to keep their grip on third place.
Team news
Diego Pablo Simeone will travel to Barcelona with an 18-man squad not including the likes of Guilherme Siqueira and Mario Mandžukić, who are both suspended, or the injured Saúl Ñíguez. The Catalan boss, Sergio González, will be without Felipe Mattioni, Juan Fuentes, Joan Jordan and Jairo Morilla; while José Alberto Cañas makes his way onto the teamsheet.
Views from the dugouts
Simeone is "well up" for the game against Espanyol and will be "looking to get back to winning ways". "They are a dangerous side that will require us to be at our best", stated the Argentine. Elsewhere, Víctor Sánchez, one of the Catalans’ midfielders, considers the upcoming opponents to be "a very intense team" and highlighted the importance of "not making mistakes".
