Real Madrid CF beat Getafe 0-3 in Sunday’s first game and sealed their place at the top of Liga BBVA following the first complete round of fixtures. The home side are now nine without a win.
In the opening stages, Quique Sánchez Flores’s side seemed more settled, however as time passed, Carlo Ancelotti’s men took control of possession. Marcelo went close from distance after 11 minutes, however it did not trouble Jordi Codina in the Getafe goal. In a half of few chances, Toni Kroos’s almost opened the scoring, however his long-range effort cannoned back off the bar.
The second half saw Madrid come out looking stronger, and in minute 53, a top save from Codina from a Karim Benzema shot was the prelude to scoreline changing as 10 minutes later, Cristiano Ronaldo finished a piece of individual brilliance from the Frenchman. Soon after it was 0-2 after a fine counter attack. James Rodríguez crossed from the left and Gareth Bale raced in to beat Codina. With the result sealed, Cristiano finished off the scoring for Real Madrid to make it 0-3 10 minutes from the end. Getafe almost scored a consolation, however Álvaro Vázquez saw his shot come back off the post.
