RCD Espanyol and Córdoba CF open up matchday 25 of the Liga BBVA in a game with plenty on offer. The second leg of the Copa del Rey semi-finals is just around the corner for los pericos, while getting back to winning ways is a must for the away side. Two teams in different positions in the table, but with the same objective: victory.
Team news
Javi López will be unavailable to Sergio González due to suspension, but Sergio García, Diego Colotto and Víctor Sánchez return to the list. Miroslav Djukić’s men will be without defender Iago Bouzón and midfielder Patrick Ekeng, although the most notable absence is that of Nabil Ghilas, who has been left out of the squad.
Views from the dugout
González was not reading anything into the Andalusian outfit’s current position in the standings, and stated in his press conference that his side’s opponents “will give everything they have” in the match. And he added: “It’s a game they can’t afford to let slip. We have to show the same level and the same intensity.”
His counterpart, Djukić, expressed his confidence in his charges, declaring that they are capable of winning on any ground. “We’re going there out to change our form,” he said.
