Matchday 19 of the Liga BBVA comes around with a challenge for RC Deportivo, who after adding to the points column for two straight weeks face the task of making life difficult for an FC Barcelona side who are aiming to keep pace in second.
Team news
With Oriol Riera the new man in attack and Hélder Postiga out, Depor will take to Riazor looking to give their fans plenty to shout about by claiming all three points. The major new face in Víctor Fernández’s squad is forward Lucas Pérez, whose season has been troubled by injuries. Barcelona travel to Coruña without Jérémy Mathieu , who is suffering from an Achilles tendon issue, and Munir El Haddadi, who has dropped to the Barcelona B squad. Xavi Hernández will be a last-minute doubt.
Views from the dugout
Fabricio, who will be Deportivo’s man between the sticks against the azulgranas, spoke in the run-up to the clash: "We’re up against one of the great clubs in Europe and in the world, a top side. We know how difficult the game will be and let’s hope things turn out well for us, we want to enjoy the match, compete to the full and try to get a positive result."
Barcelona coach Luis Enrique insisted in the build-up that it will be a difficult away trip, but that the team is raring to go. "In football, playing away from home makes life more difficult. But Barça always go out to win, whether we play at home or away."
