RC Celta downed RC Deportivo 0-2 in the 24th round of Liga BBVA. The visitors have now won back to back games, while Víctor Fernández’s side have lost their last two.
Deportivo dominated early on, and created a couple of clear chances. Iván Cavaleiro created a lot of danger for the visiting side’s backline, and might have put his side ahead early on. Shortly after, Oriol Riera saw Sergio Álvarez push his effort away for a corner. Seeing their rival’s intensity, Celta woke up and went close through Charles and Fabián Orellana, however the scoreline remained 0-0 at half time.
Eduardo Berizzo’s side went up a gear after the break and took the lead soon after as Charles tucked home after Orellana teed him up. Deportivo had the chance to equalise when they had three chances, but Álvarez made a double save, while Riera then put the ball over the bar with the goal at his mercy. Despite having one less following Alberto Lopo’s sending off, Depor carried on pushing forward, and it was this that was their undoing as Joaquín Larrivey took advantage of a Luisinho mistake to seal the points and make it 2-0.
