Real Sociedad beat Elche CF 3-0 in the opening match of Liga BBVA matchday 13. The side, with an outstanding Carlos Vela, had the Anoeta in raptures in David Moyes' first game in front of his new team's fans.
The side from Donostia made an unbeatable start to the match, taking the lead after just three minutes. Carlos Martínez started the move advancing down the right flank, connecting with Carlos Vela who beat Przemysław Tytoń with an unstoppable header. The night was just beginning for the Mexican striker, who was electric and tireless throughout. He also made it 2-0, after latching on to a pass from Xabi Prieto to make the visitors' net bulge with a left-foot shot that squeezed inside the front post. The Franjiverdes tried to rally in the face of adversity, with a very lively Jonathas de Jesus spearheading the attack, but the Txuri-urdin managed to stay solid and maintain their lead through to half-time.
Vela was no less hungry after the restart and the forward from Cancun completed a magical night by adding a third goal to his haul. This time he toe-poked home to seal the 3-0 that would remain until the final whistle.
