It was a last-minute winner for RCD Espanyol in their match against RC Celta, thanks to a Felipe Caicedo goal just before the final whistle. The result confirms the forward's great run of form in front of goal during the last five games in the Power8 Stadium.

It was the home side who worked hardest to look for an opener and they backed that up with some chances in the final third of the pitch. Sergio García got things rolling in the 7' with a diagonal shot. In the 20th minute Salva Sevilla found Lucas Vázquez in the penalty area with a great pass, but Gustavo Cabral prevented the Catalans from taking the lead. Eduardo Berizzo's player began to get into the game and Abraham González had to divert a Larrivey volley from finding the back of the net.

Celta carried the good spell of form the mustered up before the break into the beginning of the second half. The Galicians' awakening came in the form of two efforts from Joaquín Larrivey and Fabián Orellana. The best chance fell in the 79', when Sergio García saw his shot blocked by Sergio Álvarez onto the crossbar before going out for a corner.

With all signs pointing to a 0-0 finish, up popped Espanyol's hero from the Copa round of 16, Felipe Caicedo. The South American was brought on in the 77th minute and needed little over ten minutes grab his team the winner in the 90th minute.
