Barcelona succumb to Celta

RC Celta won 0-1 away to FC Barcelona in the 10th round of Liga BBVA. This means that Luis Enrique's men lose their grip at of the top of the table after their second loss in a row, while the Galician side are now three undefeated.

 

The first half was goalless, but there were plenty of chances for both sides. The home team dominated the opening exchanges, and Neymar struck the bar in the first 10 minutes. Nolito and Pablo Hérnandez then went close to opening the scoring, but the scoreline would not budge.

 

Leo Messi then took centre stage, going close on a number of occasions, including one which forced Sergio Álvarez into an impressive save, and another which Jonny diverted onto the bar. The Catalan side were looking for an opener, and Luis Suárez and Neymar had chances, but once again the visiting goalkeeper denied them, leaving the score at 0-0.

 

After the restart, the away side stunned the Camp Nou with an excellent piece of play to make it 0-1. It was Joaquín Larrivey who found the back of the net after neat play from Nolito. Despite the scoreline, Barcelona kept creating chances through Messi and Suárez, but Sergio Álvarez kept them at bay and ensured his side took the three points away from Catalonia.
