SÁB 18.10.2014
FC Barcelona made sure there were no upsets in the Camp Nou as they beat SD Eibar 3-0 in a match in which the Basque side wasted two clear chances on goal. Xavi Hernández, Neymar and Lionel Messi were the goal-scorers for Luis Enrique's team.
There was a great atmosphere in the Camp Nou throughout the first half. The home team, spurred on by the connection between Messi and Neymar, came flying out of the blocks and immediately created danger for Xabi Irureta. The Basque goalkeeper produced some heroics as he saved his team from a one-on-one with the Argentinian player early in the game, shortly before the Azulgrana number 10 shot wide after an individual move. Eibar, meanwhile, sat back in defence and waited for an opportunity to counter, a formula that gave them two clear chances on goal. The first suffered from Ander Capa's poor finishing and in the second Claudio Bravo had to come out to prevent the visitors from scoring.
The home side's siege continued after the restart and they finally broke through. It was Xavi who, with a subtle touch, set them on the road to victory. Eibar's intensity dropped off as the minutes passed by, allowing the home side to increase their lead through Neymar and Messi, with two goals in two minutes. The win means that Barcelona continue their perfect progress through the Liga BBVA and stay at the top of the table, with no defeats and still yet to concede a goal.
