The men coached by Ernesto 'Txingurri' Valverde come into this critical match uncertain of the availability of one of their best forwards: Aritz Aduriz. The man from Gipuzkoa is the Rojiblancos’ most prolific striker having netted five of the nine goals the side from Bilbao have scored this season. For his part, Cristiano Ronaldo, who withdrew from Real Madrid’s UEFA Champions League with a niggle, will start, as confirmed by Carlo Ancelotti.

The visiting manager is in no doubt of his objective for the upcoming match. "It is an opportunity in every sense, we’ll try to win, also we need to find our game", stated Valverde in the press room. For his part, Ancelotti, the home side’s coach, is aware of the danger the match brings: "We have to be careful with them. It is the ideal match for them to react".
