SD Eibar beat Rayo Vallecano 2-3 in an exciting match that brought Liga BBVA matchday 10 to a close. Despite the fact that the Madrid team were on the verge of a comeback, reducing a two-goal deficit with a brace from Léo Baptistão in less than one minute, Mikel Arruabarrena gave Gaizka Garitano's men all three points with a goal with just four minutes to play.
After a start in which neither team managed to dominate, it was Rayo who began to gain ground as the clock ticked on. Baptistão was very close to putting Rayo ahead with a shot that glanced off Borja Ekiza and made goalkeeper Xabi Irureta pull out a great stop, as did Gaël Kakuta with a powerful header. However, it was Eibar who managed to take the lead before the break, thanks to a penalty that was converted by Mikel Arruabarrena after 38 minutes.
The second half got off to a perfect start for the visitors, who increased their lead with a superb counter-attack orchestrated by Saúl Berjón and finished off by Piovaccari. Despite the score, Rayo never let their heads drop and continued to create a lot of danger, and persistently searched for a goal. As a result, Baptistão achieved what had seemed impossible: equalising the clash with two goals in less than one minute, between the 67th and 68th. When it looked like Rayo would be rewarded with a point for their efforts, Arruabarrena capped off his great night by finding the net to seal the 2-3 scoreline when the clock read 86.
