Getafe CF and Atlético Madrid will feature in an attractive Madrid derby on matchday 9 of the Liga BBVA. The Azulones, who are unbeaten in four rounds, will look to continue their good form and extend their run against a Rojiblancos side who go into the game off the back of their 5-0 thumping of Malmö FF in the UEFA Champions League and will try to end the matchday among the top four.
Team news
The inured Álvaro Arroyo, Míchel Herrero and Álvaro Vázquez have been left out of Getafe’s matchday squad of 18. For the visiting team, Cristian Ansaldi and Tiago Mendes will also miss this clash through injury.
Views from the dugout
The Getafe manager, Cosmin Contra, appeared very optimistic in the press conference prior to the match: “Of course we can beat them. We know they’re a great team, but we also know that, if we stay focused and perform well, we can beat them”. His counterpart in the Rojiblancos dugout, Diego Simeone, had words of praise for his opponents: “Getafe is coming together well as a team. Cosmin Contra is doing well, he’s a hard worker, he has a lot of character and he inspires his men to perform”.
