SÁB 20.12.2014
The final weekend of 2014 will be a crucial one for Rayo Vallecano and RCD Espanyol, two teams who were aspiring to more than they have achieved so far in this Liga BBVA and are hoping to turn things around as of matchday 16.
Picking themselves up and recording another win seem to be the goals for Paco Jémez's men, who stumbled against Sevilla FC (0-1) and Valencia CF (3-0) in their last matches. The Catalan side, for their part, are bidding for their first win on the road this season and Vallecas looks like a perfect place to do it.
Team news
Rayo are preparing for the match without the injured Zé Castro, Mohammed Fatau, David Cobeño and Toño. The presence of Abraham González and absence of José Alberto Cañas, who is serving a one-match ban, are the main changes to the Pericos' squad.
Views from the dugout
"Espanyol are a team that have grown this season", said the manager of the side from the capital. His counterpart in the dugout, Sergio González, highlighted "Rayo's direct football" and stated that "a victory in Vallecas would free up the team mean recognition for the whole squad".
